Tobi Podhaler Drug Interactions

A number of problems can occur when Tobi Podhaler is combined with certain antibiotics, bisphosphonates, and NSAIDs, among other things. Some of these drug interactions with Tobi Podhaler may increase your risk for side effects or other complications, including kidney and ear problems. To help ensure a safe treatment, tell your healthcare provider about all other medications, vitamins, or supplements you are taking.

 

An Overview of Interactions With Tobi Podhaler

Tobi® Podhaler™ (tobramycin inhalation powder) can potentially react with several other medications. Some of the drugs that may interact with Tobi Podhaler include but are not limited to:
       
  • Mannitol 
  • Neuromuscular-blocking medications, such as:
    • Atracurium
    • Cisatracurium (Nimbex®)
    • Pancuronium
    • Rocuronium (Zemuron®)
    • Succinylcholine (Anectine®, Quelicin®)
    • Vecuronium (Norcuron®)
   
  • Other aminoglycoside antibiotics, such as:
    • Amikacin (Amikin®)
    • Gentamicin
    • Kanamycin (Kantrex®)
    • Neomycin (Neo-Fradin®)
    • Streptomycin
 
  • Vancomycin (Vancocin®).
