Cystic Fibrosis Home > Pertzye Uses

Is It Safe for Children to Use?

Pertzye is approved for use in children age 12 months and older. While some other pancrelipase products are approved for use in infants younger than 12 months old, Pertzye is not (the lowest strength is too high for babies).

Although Pertzye is approved for children age 12 months and older, it comes only in capsule form, so a little creativity and patience are necessary in order to give this medication to young children (see Pertzye Dosage).

Off-Label Uses for Pertzye

On occasion, your healthcare provider may recommend this medicine for treating something other than the conditions discussed in this article. This is called an "off-label" use. Using Pertzye for infants would be an off-label use. Otherwise, there are no universally accepted off-label uses for this product at this time.
