Zenpep Drug Information

Zenpep® (pancrelipase) is a prescription medication that is used when a person has a deficiency of pancreatic enzymes (digestive enzymes secreted by the pancreas). It is specifically designed for use in people with low pancreatic enzymes due to cystic fibrosis or certain other medical conditions.

Zenpep contains a mixture of different pancreatic enzymes taken from the pancreatic glands of pigs. Specifically, it contains lipases, proteases, and amylases. Lipases help to digest fats, proteases help to digest proteins, and amylases help to digest starches.

Although this drug can be an effective treatment for many people, it's important to review Zenpep's safety information before starting treatment to help minimize potentially dangerous complications. For example, you may not be able to take this medicine if you are taking certain products or have certain bowel problems.

This medication comes as an extended-release capsule that is taken with each meal. It is approved for use in adults, children, and infants.
