Cayston Monthly

If you have cystic fibrosis and a certain bacterial infection, you may receive a prescription medication called Cayston® (aztreonam for inhalation solution). This antibiotic is used when the bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa is present in the lungs.
Cayston comes as a powder that is mixed with saline and inhaled into the lungs using a nebulizer. It is used three times daily for 28 days. This is then followed by a 28-day break from the medicine before your next month of treatment resumes. Your healthcare provider will determine how many monthly cycles of Cayston you will need.
