Cayston and Liver Problems
Cayston® (aztreonam for inhalation solution) is a medicine prescribed to treat a certain type of bacterial infection in those with cystic fibrosis. Before using this medicine, it's important to know about the problems that might occur during treatment. For instance, some people may wonder if Cayston could cause liver problems.
Although this drug may cause severe allergic reactions and breathing problems in some people, there is no mention in the prescribing information that Cayston would cause problems with the liver. However, before using it, talk to your healthcare provider about any medical conditions you have and all medications, vitamins, and supplements you are using. He or she can discuss any complications that may affect your particular situation.
(Click Cayston Warnings and Precautions for more information on whether this drug causes liver problems or other complications. It also discusses who should avoid this product.)
