Bethkis Uses

How Does It Work?

Bethkis works by killing bacteria. It does this by interfering with the bacteria's ability to make proteins, which are necessary for the bacteria to grow and multiply.

Is It Safe for Children to Use Bethkis?

Bethkis is approved for use in children as young as six years old. It is unknown whether the drug is safe or effective in younger children, as it has not been adequately studied in this age group. Talk with your child's healthcare provider about the risks and benefits of using this medication in younger children.

Can Older Adults Use It?

Bethkis is approved for use in adults. However, it has not been adequately studied in people over the age of 31. Therefore, it is not entirely known how safe and effective the medicine is in people older than this.

Off-Label Bethkis Uses

On occasion, your healthcare provider may recommend this medicine for treating something other than cystic fibrosis. This is known as an "off-label" use. Bethkis may be used off-label to treat bacterial lung infections in people who do not have cystic fibrosis.
